How many types of Library cards are there?


Library cards here can be roughly divided into two types: Personal Library Cards and Family Library Cards. Depending on the material and purposes, Library Cards can be further divided into the following types:


1. Regular Library Cards: This type of cards can be used at the Main Library, its branches and the Neighborhood Reading Rooms. However, they are not applicable at the Intelligent Libraries. Each person is allowed to apply for one card. The card is to be used by the cardholder only.

(1) Regular Barcode Library Cards: R.O.C. citizens can choose one of the following documents when applying for this card: ID card, driver’s license, disability manual, Household Certificate or a Household Certificate Transcript (should remain valid within 3 months). Children under 12 years old may provide a photocopy of Household Certificate or Household Certificate Transcript (should remain valid for 3 months following the application date) for the application. Citizens of the P.R.C. and foreigners may present their entry/exit permits, passports or resident certificates to apply.

(2) Bookstart Library Card: For children in Taipei aged 3 years old or younger. For the application of the card, present a photocopy of household certificate or a household certificate transcript with a remaining validity period of at least three months.

(3) Youth Library Cards: This card is for R.O.C. citizens between 13-18 years old. Bring the original copy of one of the following: ID card, driver's license, disabled citizen ID (or disability manual), Household Certificate or Household Certificate Transcript (should remain valid for 3 months following the application date) to apply for the card. Persons under 12 years old may bring a photocopy of their Household Certificate or Household Certificate Transcript (remains valid for 3 months) for the application. Citizens of the PRC and foreigners may present their entry/exit permits, passports or resident certificates for the application.


2. RFID Library Card: This card can be used at the Main Library, its branches, the Neighborhood Reading Rooms, and Intelligent Libraries.

(1) RFID Chip Library Card: The card can be applied at the Main Library and the following branches: Beitou, Nangang, Datong, Yongchun, Zhongshan, Xihu, Sanmin, Wenshan, Wanhua, Minsheng, Huludu, Wang Guanying Memorial Library and Lee ko-yung Memorial Library.

(2) Easy Cards for Library (including a Digital Student Identity Card): The card can be applied at all the reading sections of the Library. Applicants must possess an Easy Card. Easy Cards for Library cannot serve as Family Library Cards.
