Message from the Commissioner

As public perception of social welfare has evolved over time, so have the roles and functions of the Department of Social Welfare (DOSW). "Humanity, priority for the disadvantaged, family orientation, service integrations, and civic participation" are at the heart of our service principles. We believe that uniting public and private efforts is the most promising approach to raising awareness and resources to meet welfare needs most efficiently.

Everyone at DOSW, with a view to fulfilling service principles of "dignity and humanity", define their attitudes with empathy, sincerity, and professionalism. Our clients have multiple needs, ranging from basic daily necessities to self-realization, all of which shall be treated with the utmost respect and acceptance.
